Ankle Brachial Index
To screen for possible peripheral vascular arterial occlusions in the lower extremities (blockages in the main arteries in the legs - poor circulation). Blood pressure cuffs and an ultrasound transducer are place on legs and arms. Blood flow is evaluated in the main arteries, pressures are taken, and indices are calculated to screen for significant blockage in the arteries. Shoes and socks need to be removed for this painless screen.
