Ankle Brachial Index
To screen for possible peripheral vascular arterial
occlusions in the lower extremities (blockages in the main arteries
in the legs - poor circulation). Blood pressure cuffs and an ultrasound
transducer are place on legs and arms. Blood flow is evaluated
in the main arteries, pressures are taken, and indices are calculated
to screen for significant blockage in the arteries. Shoes and
socks need to be removed for this painless screen.
-
Peripheral Vascular Disease-Blockage of the
arteries in the legs with deterioration of blood flow to the
extremities. Caught early, lifestyle changes and medical treatment
can help one become more active again and may prevent progression
of the disease.
-
Coronary Artery Marker The ABI (Ankle Brachial
